Responsibilities:
To support Oracle & MS SQL Database administration and associated software support, implement IT projects and to provide data centre support so as to establish and maintain a world-class IT infrastructure to achieve a high level of security, availability and performance to support the 24 x 7 business and operations.
Performs all activities and functions related to support development and production databases in a 24/7 environment.
Monitor and optimize the performance of the physical database.
Configure database health checks and monitoring tools and alerts for databases
Install new database and patches/upgrades, debug database system problems and apply fixes including security fixes if necessary.
Implement data transfer procedures between Oracle and MS SQL databases.
Troubleshoot performance problems, perform SQL tuning and optimization to ensure improve application response time.
Plan and implement database backup/recovery policy and procedure, and disaster recovery support to ensure minimal downtime in a 24/7 operation.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, preferable in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
Hand-on experience on any: Oracle 8, 8i, 9i and 10g
Hand-on experience on any: HP-UX/Solaris/AIX/Wintel operating systems.
Hand-on experience on Oracle DB, RAC, RMAN, Export/Import, PL/SQL, SQL*Loader, UNIX scripts & Veritas Backup.
Experience and knowledge of sizing, configuring servers & RAID devices to support Oracle environments will be a plus.
Team player and good command of English.
Candidate who demonstrates the willingness to learn other skills in MS SQL administration is advantage.
