Position: Senior Oracle Applications DBA
Base Salary: $100-120k + bonus
Will consider Virtual Oracle DBA support
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking 3-4 experienced senior Sr. Oracle Applications DBA’s (w/ 4-5 yrs. experience) to join our South Orange County based Oracle Consulting team. Unlike other consultant roles, you will have the opportunity to work on site in our office with over 10 other bright Oracle DBA’s supporting up to 22 clients. You will have the opportunity to support 2-3 clients personally and a choice to work on new clients every quarter. For those very seasoned DBA’s who like to work virtually, we will also consider this scenario based on experience and past success. This is a full-time position; you will be responsible for staying current with the Oracle DBA skill set across the different architecture layers of an Oracle Applications System.
The job description is divided into three functional areas: Consulting Delivery, Practice Development, and Administrative.
Consulting Delivery
The company’s Consulting Delivery area includes, but is not limited to, the resources that have direct contact with customers and/or 3rd Party customers.
The Sr. Oracle Applications DBA must have first hand experience with all the layers of an Oracle Applications environment including, but not limited to:
* Oracle RdBMS (8.1.7.4 and higher)
* Oracle Applications Server
* Oracle Applications System Administration Knowledge
* Minimum of 2 Operating Systems Supported by Oracle (Unix, Solaris, Windows 2k/XP/2003, Linux)
* Knowledge of Hardware in Oracle Tier 1 (HP, IBM, Dell, Sun)
The duties that will be regularly performed by the Sr. Oracle Applications DBA include, but are not limited to the following:
* Installation of Oracle Applications (RdBMS, Application Server, and Applications)
* Upgrade of Oracle Applications (including RdBMS, Application Server, and Applications)
* Implementation Support of Oracle Applications (Patching, Troubleshooting errors, space management, Concurrent Managers management, System Administrator activities)
* Production Support of Oracle Applications to resolve various issues identified by company’s Clients that are critical to keeping the business moving. This includes System Administrator Activities (Concurrent Manager, System Profiles, Security, Custom Object Registration, Printer administration)
* Oracle Applications and Database tuning.
* Hot and Cold Backups of systems
* Cloning of Oracle Applications environments.
* Basic Technical Architecture Skills including the layout required to support an Oracle Applications Installation (Work Station, network, DB Server, Apps Server)
* Weekly Status reports sent to clients and/or Project Manager.
* On site Professional Consulting Skills including the demonstration of Oracle Database Knowledge, presentation skills, communication skills, and demonstration of professionalism.
* Microsoft Office Skills including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Projects.
In addition, the Senior Oracle Applications DBA must possess three or more of the following advanced skills:
* Oracle Real Application Cluster Installation and Support
* Oracle Discover Installation and Support
* Oracle Portal Installation and Support
* Integration to 3rd Party Applications from Oracle Apps (Printing, Tax, BIW, Shipping, other)
* Oracle Data Warehouse Concepts and DBA support of BIW Implementations
* Advanced Configuration knowledge including Load Balancing, use of 3rd Party Tools to support High Availability of production systems.
* Oracle Certified Professional DBA (10G Database and Application Server)
The DBA skills not currently possessed will be developed through training and personnel development:
Work Location
* Support customers remotely and onsite throughout Southern California (San Diego to Ventura and east to San Bernardino).
* Company is extremely family oriented and will do whatever it can to minimize your travels. As a consultant, we will do our best to limit travel for projects that are located within a two and a * hour flight radius. Occasionally, travel across country may be required to support our clients.
Practice Development
The company’s Practice Development includes researching, learning, and application of cutting edge information to support the role given (functional, technical, DBA, Project Manager). This knowledge will be used to support the Methodology, support other consultants, support the Sales organization, and support the company relationships with partners including Oracle Corporation.
The following activities will be required regularly of the Sr. Oracle Applications DBA include, but are not limited to, the following items:
Personal Development:
* Identity and request training for continual knowledge of Oracle Database Administration Skills and company Partner products.
* Identify and request training for Professional Consulting Skills.
* The company, upon approval, will support your continuing education in the Applications Database area up to ten (10) days per year. Your training will be directed towards advanced Oracle and company partner technologies.
Methodology Development:
* Develop and refine the Methodologies for Implementation and Upgrade.
Peer Development and Assistance:
* Assist in Sales Activities through estimating work efforts.
* Available to assist fellow DBA*s and other Delivery personnel with Implementation and Production issues.
Timely participation in required Oracle Partnership Activities:
* Oracle Partner Certification Tests
* Oracle Partner Training
* Obtain and/or maintain Oracle OCP Certification on latest Oracle release.
