JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Programmer Analyst reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support an organization's client/server and web-based software applications and middleware. Demonstrates experience and knowledge in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures in a validated environment through the full life cycle of software development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Hands-on software planning and development using J2EE, Java and Microsoft development tools following the standards and best practices as defined by the IT organization.
· Maintain customer relationships and support a variety of business systems.
· Participate in the design and implementation of the application and service architecture.
· Perform requirements gathering and systems documentation.
· Maintain a detailed understanding of the current best practices, trends and events in the software development industry.
· Adhere to all standards for testing, validation and change control.
QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of three years experience in the field of software development.
· Experience with client/server and web-based application development processes and tools.
· Hand-on Java development experience. Sum certification is a plus.
· Skills working with J2EE technologies and the WebSphere toolset including WebSphere Application Server. Experience with portal technologies a plus.
· Skills working with Microsoft technologies including .Net and .ASP, IIS and Visual Basic a plus.
· Experience using enterprise database platforms including at least one of the following: Oracle, SQL Server or DB2. Experience with SQL, Stored Procedures and database connection.
· Working knowledge of Windows operating system technologies and application architecture. Knowledge of Linux or Unix a plus.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
